Hey hey! So, I decided to go with a new stencil I just got, the Altenew Stencil Art White Cap Peonies. I really loved this stencil and wanted to see what it could do, and I’ve seen peonies come in multiple colors so I wanted to play around with that. Finding just the right colors is the very first thing that I do. I started off by turning the brightness up all the way on my monitor and then trying to color match. Right off I found that Cosmic Berry from the Rose Petal set worked great, so then I looked at what I had for the lighter peachy color, I decided on Pink Sand from the Woodland Escape set, and then I had to branch out into my CP Inks and chose Bellini and Clay Mask to work with the Pink Sand and for the greens I used With an Olive, Green Tea and Eucalyptus.
Instead of using the “thanks” word and shadow die from the White Cap Peonies set, I chose to use the “feel better soon” sentiment and die from the Build A Garden Sulphur Cosmos since mom isn’t feeling too well at the moment.
I didn’t think I wanted a plain white background, so I started looking at the colored cardstock that I had with me (not at home), just so happened that I had a pack of the new C9 colors for 2024! Wildberry was a perfect match and I decided that I wanted a bit more shadow than I would get from just layering die cuts, so I used the Cosmic Berry to give a bit of shadow to the areas around the peonies.
Once I was satisfied with the shadow, I started working on the sentiment. I kid you not, I tried 5 different inks! One with Versamark on the C9 Wildberry. Four of them on 80# Neenah Solar White with Hero Arts Sparkle Embossing powder. I tried Purple Wine & Cosmic Berry from Altenew and Dragonfruit & Wildberry from C9. Altenew’s Purple Wine and Concord & 9th’s Wildberry were almost exact, so I tried playing with coloring the white with C9’s Wildberry Ink with Catherine Pooler’s Bellini. . . not the right combination, and running out of time, haha of course!
Luckily, I had just received a package from Altenew, and had some new Apricot Frost Enamel dots to work with, so I used a few of those as well as some transparent (unfoiled) ss2 AB, Dark Champagne ss6, Rainbow Opal ss6 crystals and one sparkly transparent heart gem. Thanks for joining me!
